Prashant Miranda

Prashant Miranda... artist, animator and scribe, moved to Canada after studying at the National Institute of Design in India. He pursued a career in animation where he designed children's animation films for TV, and designed Canada's pioneering stop motion animation series, "Henry's world". He then opened a gallery called the 'Band of Gypsies' with his friends in Toronto, where he painted and sold his art.

A chronic doodler, Prashant documents his life through his watercolours in a journal that he carries with him at all times. Over the years, his journals have taken many forms, where paintings pour out of boxes, books that he binds and pouches that he stitches out of cloth and leather. He travels back to his homeland, India, every winter, where he seeks inspiration, replenishes and rejuvenates his soul, and chronicles his life through his paintings.

Currently working with a Canadian NGO called 'World Literacy of Canada' in Varanasi, Prashant is also designing products to help women generate a sustainable income in areas in and around Varanasi. You can see more of his work on his blog
